January News

Bygone Appledore:

We are always grateful to receive donations of items to add to our archives. This month our thanks go to Mrs Helen Whiting, who contacted us from Australia with the offer of a poster calendar dating back to 1913, which advertises “S.E.W Chapman, Grocer, Draper, Outfitter and Newsagent, Appledore”. Messrs Chapman and Pearson occupied the grocer’s store, which is now the site of Appledore Village Stores .
