We urgently need your help!

Appledore Local History Society is about to become homeless!

We have been advised that the Appledore Methodist Chapel is to be closed and will be put up for auction on 21st September 2022. We only have until that date to remove the documents and artefacts we have in store there, into safe storage elsewhere.

We urgently need to secure safe and dry storage, on an interim or long-term basis and we invite any member of the local community who has outbuildings that could suit, to urgently contact us. The size of a stable or single car garage would suffice, anything larger would be a bonus.

We require periodic access to the items that will be stored, in order that we can continue to catalogue them as well as occasionally remove them for display at suitable venues on Heritage Open Days and loan them to interested parties.

Our final meeting of ALHS at the Methodist Chapel was held on 11th August 2022. We do have a Heritage Open Day there on Saturday, 27th August 2022, which will proceed as planned. We hope that you will make time to join us during the day to see an example of what we share with visitors and those who make enquiries regarding the village and their family ties to Appledore.

Please help us to secure a new home.
